We’ve seen this scenario time and time again: The girl starts to fall for one guy, but then something happens, and before we know it, the girl falls for the other guy. And all because of timing. We certainly saw it in spades with beloved series like Lovers in Prague, Lovers in Paris, and Spring Day (pictured above)…to some very heart-breaking results. Why? Because the male second leads are just as wonderful as the first leads. 🙁
In Spring Day, Ko Hyun Jung‘s character (Suh Jung Eun) is initially in love with Ji Jin Hee‘s character (Ko Eun Ho), but when Eun Ho unexpected slips into a coma, Jung Eun spends some life-changing moments with Eun Ho’s half-brother Eun Sup. By the time Eun Ho wakes up, it’s too late. Despite her best intentions, Jung Eun has fallen for Eun Sup.
Aside from the whole love triangle involving two brothers, what really shocked me was that I don’t think I was supposed to root for Jo In Sung‘s character (Eun Sup). You can read an earlier post on this series here if you want to know the reasons why.
In any case, the idea of “timing” has been swirling around in my mind these past few weeks. Granted, there are things in life that aren’t contingent on timing; however, there are just as many things–if not more–in which timing makes quite the significant difference. For instance, where you live determines your language, your culture, your friends, etc. What college you attend determines your academic education as well as career opportunities. I am still surprised by how strong the sunbae-hoobae connection can be sometimes.
Recently, I’ve wondered at the timing of certain events and people in my life. Things that I would never have considered, I’m now considering. Things that I normally would not do, I’m doing. In short, the timing right now has me doing some new and unusual things that make me wonder, “Who is this person?!” LOL. My only true concern is whether I am maximizing all of my opportunities. Hmm…only “time” will tell, right? 😉
I’m not sure if today’s musing makes much sense. As I was telling Jules and a few others, today’s “Musing” post is neither particularly uplifting nor penetratingly insightful. It just simply is. I guess you can think of it as a sneak peek inside the convoluted mind of Snoopy’s Twinkie. *cheesy grin*
I do promise, however, to keep you updated on all the big events of my life that involve “time.” Hopefully, I will have some very good news to share with you soon, especially in my professional life. 😉 In the meanwhile, I leave you with a snippet of the last episode of Spring Day…you know…just in case you came to Kdramas recently and completely missed out on one of my all-time favorite dramas. And I do mean D-R-A-M-A. (Translation: This is a must-watch!)
*dramatic sigh* The things I endure for certain characters.
*bigger dramatic sigh* Back in 2005, Ko Eun Sup was giving Darcy a serious run for Darcy’s spot as my #1 favorite male character…at least until So Ji Sub‘s Lee Jang Woo definitively usurped that position from Darcy late last year. LOL.
Anyhow, I leave you with this clip before my brain really discombobulates. 😉 Happy Tuesday, Twinkles! May YOU make the most of your timing today! *blows kisses*
(note: This clip doesn’t fully represent the magnetism of Ko Eun Sup, so please don’t judge the character based on this short clip. 😉 )
