Musing for Today: Sibling Love

So Eul Da Eul

Siblings, like so many things in our world, can be a source of great strife and pain, but they can also be a rich source of endless love and support. We’ve seen this demonstrated time and time again in our personal lives, in the lives of our beloved K-drama characters, and most recently in the lives of the newest little munchkins in The Return of Superman.

Week after week, Lee Da Eul unashamedly displays his love and affection for his older sister, Lee So Eul, by shadowing her every move. Talk about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery! If you haven’t seen these two in action, you absolutely must. They are sweetness and love all bottled up in pint-size munchkin bodies! *squees from cuteness overload*

Recently, I received an email from one of my silent Twinkles–we’ve long accepted the fact that many of you are silent readers; yes, I’m talking about most of you reading this right now LOL–and her email made me think a great deal about sibling love and just how beautiful a thing it is.

As many of you know, I’ve been a bit bogged down with Real Life matters these days and haven’t been able to have as much fun romping around in Kdramaland as I used to in the past. So you can imagine my surprise and delight when a silent Twinkle with whom I’ve never exchanged pleasantries before suddenly contacted me with a question of whether I had any tips to promote blogs. Why, you ask? Our little Twinkle “just wanted to help [her] sister succeed.”

It’s not often that a young Twinkle contacts me because she–I’m assuming LastJuniorStanding is a female Twinkle–wants to help a sibling and the sibling’s new blogging efforts.

Needless to say, the teacher in me was moved by her email, and during one of my grading breaks, I took a look at the sibling’s blog…and was thoroughly charmed by it.

Do you all remember one of my Friday Fun selections from a while back featuring Super Junior M‘s “Swing”? (here) Well, the sibling did something quite creative and fun with the music video on her website. 🙂 So thanks to the assertive efforts of a younger sibling who just wanted the best for her older sibling, one very tired Snoopy’s Twinkie–that would be me–was entertained with a fun blog post this past week in the midst of all of her grading. 🙂

As someone who delights in encouraging young people’s assertiveness and initiative, I wanted to do something to acknowledge one of our young Twinkles’ love for her sibling and desire to help her sister’s blog be “a success.” I hope that you’ll join me in welcoming MidnightRamenAttack to the Kdramaland blogosphere! And can I just say that she’s already established quite a written voice for herself along with a fabulous banner! Don’t believe me? Just read her creative recap of “Swing.” (here) 😉

And on this note, I wish you all a love-filled weekend. Sibling love is such a beautiful thing. Hmmm…this reminds me that I should do something nice for my sisters. 😉 Good night, Twinkles~!

  1. EEK! I can’t believe you made a post about siblings to welcome my blog! You just made my day! :D:D That’s so sweet of you! Yes, we are both sisters, and very close sisters at that. We respect you and love your blog very much. I’m glad you like my banner, too. It’s just a mishmash of things I happen to like. I know what you mean about being bogged down by real life…. Sometimes daily worries and cares make life feel like a struggle, but a kind word or deed can make everything brighter, like this wonderful surprise. You are the best! Thank you so much!

    1. 🙂 Sibling love like yours and your little sister’s deserve some recognition. 🙂 Hopefully, the post will help you generate more readership. Keep up the hard work! Blogging can be fun but also a lot of work as I’m sure you’ve already realized. 😉

Thanks for your continued support! The emails from you and your sister helped me get through a rough week. *hugs*

  2. I just wanted to thank you for all you’ve done for us! All I did was send one tiny little email, and now all this… You’re too nice beyond words. As we three (yes, there are three of us) are very close sisters, we all shared the joy and excitement of our new blog, and our 착한 new friend–you. As I commented to my elder sister, you have a lively, fun way of writing that makes me just want to keep reading whatever you wrote. Thank you again, and again, and again! And sorry for the late thanks. My internet hasn’t worked for a while, and probably won’t for yet longer.

  3. Oops… Sorry I made a mistake. Laureen Steller is my (fake) name, and I posted it instead of LastJuniorStanding. Just so you don’t get mistaken…

    1. No worries. I recognized your email address, which is kept private from public view but I can see. 🙂
