Synopsis: One day, the only son of famous news anchor, Han Kyung-Bae, disappeared without a trace. Soon after, the kidnapper calls the mother, played by Oh Ji Sun, demanding $100,000 as ransom.
Veteran Police Detective KIM Wook-jung is assigned to the case and assembles a top-notch task force under his command. However, the kidnapper constantly outwits the police traps and keeps calling the parents with yet another instruction for the money drop.
The only clue the police and the parents have is the kidnapper’s voice recorded on the tape; his cultured, but emotionless voice, which often gives anyone who listens goose bumps.
Musings: Another movie that I can truthfully say that I will never need to see again. But not for the reasons you are thinking! As this is a true story, you go in knowing that and the events that lead up to Sang Woo’s (son’s name in the movie) kidnapping.
It makes you question whether or not what would you do? Would you allow your child to stay so long outside? Would you never check on your child who is at the playground right outside your window?
This movie definitely brings out the questions AND the tears. The ending when Samg Woo’s Dad is on the air; never will I need to see those emotions as well as the pain and emotions emitted by both parents throughout the movie. This is definitely not a movie that would attract everyone to see. I also believe anyone with children who watch this will look at the world and their daily actions more closely when it comes to their children in a whole new light.
Kang Dong Won as the murderer; even though he only provided his voice, I can assure you that his part was spot-on! His nuances and ability to duplicate the murderer, just by voice was eerie and frightening. But I must say it was a GREAT movie!!
Trailer is available on on YouTube Website only. The movie is available on several sites. Ask me if your interested.
Happy 33rd Birthday to my main movie man, Kang Dong Won. As he will be celebrating his big day on January 18th, here’s hoping he has a WONDERFUL day!
