Movie Monday: Killer Toon (2013)

****WARNING****

This comes with a major warning. It is scary, and at times a little gory as well as intense!! A well-earned R-rating.

Starring: Lee Si Young as Ji Yoon, Uhm Ki Joon as Det. Lee Ki Cheol, Hyun Woo as Kim Young Soo, and Kwon Hae Hyo as Jo Sun Gi

Rating: R, subject matter, violence but most of all SCARY

Running Time: 104 min

Twinkies: 4 creepy stars

Synopsis: A Popular horror web-comic artist Ji Yoon finds life imitating her own work when her publisher turns up dead in a way, precisely mirrors the images in her latest comic series of murders. Detective Ki-chul unravels the terrifying truth of the comics himself as well and places the cartoonist Kang Ji Yoon on the list of suspects.

Musings: AWESOME AWESOMENESS!! Heart…stop it!! This was GOOD!! No, this was GREAT!! I don’t know where to begin because I am not going to give anything away. But I must say, this is not for the faint of heart.

Within the first 10 minutes, you’ll be jumping out your skin. As I was watching it, it reminded me so much of Silent Hill (no, I never finished that movie) which I ran from the room in fear but the story was reminiscent of it.

Lee Si Young was AMAZING in this role as Ji Yoon. I already had mad respect for her but now…She will creep up as being one of my top 10 favorite actresses.

Uhm Ki Joon as the Det. Ki Cheol was so brass as the cop who basically continued my negative opinion on Korean police. But his acting was definitely stellar. Give it up to Hyun Woo as Young Soo. As Ki Cheol partner, he handled the role well. But again, not everyone can watch this.

There is some seriously twisted and scary scenes in this. From start to finish, you didn’t really know where the story was going to take you but that ending. Loved it! I still have goose bumps!

Trailer is available on on YouTube Website only. The movie is available on several sites. Ask me if your interested.

  1. Omg! I’m not a fan of horror AT ALL but this looks good! Maybe for a Halloween get-together with the girls, since there’s no way in hell I’d watch this alone!

  2. I didn’t like it as much as you did. For me the beginning (the first 10 minutes you mentioned) as well as the ending were good, but the rest was just so-so. It didn’t make me anxious and nervous like, for example, Coma did.
Still, it wasn’t bad, but I was expecting something scarier, I guess.

  3. Just finished watching it , loved it , I’m glad it wasn’t any scarier because apparently I’m scaredy cat and I was watching it all by my lonesome …in the dark
