Movie Monday: …ing (2003)

Starring: Kim Rae Won, Im Soo Jung, Lee Mi Sook, etc.

Rating: PG-13

Running Time: 104 minutes

Twinkies: 4 out of 5

Synopsis: Im Soo Jung plays a fanciful high school girl who dreams of doing many things in life. One of these things is to fall madly in love with the man of her dreams.

One day, that dream comes true…sort of…when a college student starts to follow her around, professing his undying love for her. At first, she’s put off by his forwardness and can’t see herself dating him, but then she soon warms up to him…until she learns the secret behind his sudden interest in her, a secret that surprises everyone, including the viewers.

Musings: The poignancy and the sweet moments between the daughter and the mother as well as between the daughter and her “boyfriend” are definitely the main draws to this movie. There are so many memorable scenes in this movie. And the love that the mother and boyfriend feel for the girl is so heart-warming. I wasn’t overly impressed with the movie until the surprise was revealed, and then my reaction was “Aw….”

If you have some time this week and you haven’t had a chance to see this movie yet, you may want to give it a viewing.  Honestly, I can’t remember when I saw this movie, but what I do remember is that I saw it because of Kim Rae Won. Yes, I proudly admit that I was quite taken with the guy back then and still find him adorable . 🙂 Oddly enough, I hadn’t even heard of Im Soo Jung and wasn’t particularly impressed with her when I saw the movie. It wasn’t until I Love You, I’m Sorry that I found her adorable and “worthy” of my attention. 😉

If nothing else, this movie marks one of the first cinematic efforts of two of Korea’s top actors Kim Rae Won and Im Soo Jung. I hope you enjoy it! Below is the trailer, and here is the movie link on YouTube…with English subtitles!.

  1. Oh, i’ve watched this one! Right after you recommended ‘My Little Bride’, i went searching for other movies featuring Kim Rae-won and found this one. I liked it! It wasn’t overly melodramatic despite the subject matter, although i cried buckets at the end. And i loved the scene where KRW fell off his chair, and the one where the mother explains that ISJ is an alien. The relationships in this movie were nicely written.
