Rating: R, subject matter and violence

Twinkies: 4 stars

Synopsis: A boy named Hwayi has 5 criminal fathers. Seok-tae, a cold but charismatic leader, Ki-tae, a stammering driver specialist, Jin-seong, an ideal planner, Beom-soo, a guns specialist and Dong-beom a cold actionist.

Hwayi has been brought up in a unique way, learning skills from his 5 fathers instead of going to school but has adapted to life, not knowing his past. However, Seok-tae who wanted Hwayi to be as strong as his fathers, brings him to a crime scene one day and Hwayi faces the hidden truth about everything around him and begins to change!

Musings: One word: WOW! Review over! Okay, seriously, I went into this movie expecting another fan service acting from Yeo Jin Goo but what I got was a TOTAL surprise! I had to remind myself that this young man is only 16 years old! 16! And it is not easy to impress me in this genre but he managed very easily to do it.

All through the movie, you realize how much Hwayi just wanted to be a normal boy; the simple things in life like going to school, having friends and basically all of the things we take for granted. As you watch, you realize just how much was ripped away from him at an early age.

But one thing you realize is just how much each of his fathers love him in their own way, especially Jin-seong, who doesn’t want this life of crime for his “son”; I use that word loosely. Why? You have to see the movie to find out.

This movie is extremely dark! Extremely! Do not take the R-rating lightly. It earned it! If you are squeamish about blood, killing, abuse, and just about anything else you can think about, you might want to miss this but if you want to watch some really good acting, this is it! It earned its star rating!

  1. Another great review, but you know me…I’ll be passing on this one. 🙁 I’ve got too much of an overactive imagination to watch this. 😛 Now, if it had Won Bin…that would be an entirely different story. 😉

    Thanks, Bel!
