Movie Monday: He Was Cool (2004)

Starring: Song Seung Heon (Dr. Jin, My Princess, East of Eden, Summer Scent, Autumn Fairytale, etc.), Jung Da Bin (Non Stop 3, Attic Cat, My Nineteen-Year-Old Sister-in-law,  etc.)

Rating: PG-13

Running Time: 115 minutes

Twinkies: 4

Synopsis: This is a sweet boy-meets-girl romantic comedy that is bound to generate some laughs and groans for the obvious cliches…but definitely worth the viewing. 🙂

Musings: Heh heh…it seems like my synopses are getting shorter and vaguer by the week, huh? 😉

Seriously, though, I saw this movie back in 2004, a year when I saw quite a number of silly, fun romantic comedies. This one was no different. Aside from the playful and silly antics of high schoolers, the nice eye-candy (aka Song Seung Heon) made for a pleasant 115 minutes of immersion into kdrama land. But more than Song Seung Heon, whom I’ve always struggled to like as an actor, I saw this movie for Jung Da Bin, whom I adored in Attic Cat with Kim Rae Won. That drama, despite its frustrating moments, holds a special place in my heart.

In any case, this movie is bound to be a nice way to ease people into another work/study week. I’ve checked YouTube for it; the movie is uploaded on that site with English subtitles, so you should have no problems accessing the movie. Happy viewing! Happy Monday, twinkles! Below is the trailer in case you want to check it out before committing to the full movie. 🙂

  1. I laughed so much when I first saw it and it introduced me to SSH aka Mr. Hand-Towel.

    Cute movie

Keep up the great work Twinkie!!!

    Sarang

  2. Haha, I just watched this a couple weeks ago. Its a pretty easy watch. SSH does romantic comedy movies better than melo or action. Also I thought that lead girl in this movie was a younger version of the late Choi Jin Shil. Until i found out she is much older than him lol.

  3. It’s Tuesday now, but oh well xD

I saw this on Youtube when I was watching My Girlfriend is a Civil Agent (was tht the title…i forget lol “secret agent”? im so forgetful)

I didnt know if it was worth watching or not, so I left it alone but now its a Movie Monday! So I MUST see it! And it has one of my favorite actors ^^

I saw Attic Cat on my Crunchyroll app, but it wasnt categorized as “Romance” so can you give me your opinions on it, Twinkie? Please and thank you 🙂

    1. Hi, Wol!
Attic Cat is actually one of my favorite dramas, but it does get a bit repetitive and frustrating because the girl lets the guy take her for granted so many times. Besides, it was filmed almost a decade ago, so it definitely lacks some of the sophistication and polish we’ve come to expect from the more recent kdramas. However, I love it and own a copy of it…just in case the mood strikes me to watch it again…whenever that time may be. LOL.

I hope this gives you an inkling of whether it’s worth watching. Let me know if you decide to take the plunge and watch it. I’d love to read your thoughts on the series.

      1. Attic Cat was cute! But ugh, he treated her so poorly at times that I had to take a few deep breaths and remind myself: it’s okay, Jules; it’s just a drama. *g*

  4. Hi ST
Thanks for the movie. As i watched this, i realised that long time ago, i did watch this. Hahaha, actually i even forget the storyline and all the cast 🙂 Maybe at that time SSH didnt really impressed me with his acting? LOL. It was fun, but sad to hear that the lead girl commit suicide
