Synopsis: Manbok thought she lost her real parents and is living with her adoptive family. The family members treat her like their real daughter and sister so Manbok doesn’t feel lonely at all. But she wants to see her real father for once.
One day, she sees a singer sing a song her mom used to sing for her on TV and thinks the person who gave the song to the singer is her real father. She heads off to Chuncheon to find him. The man Manbok meets in Chuncheon has all the aspects of a perfect father but he doesn’t seem to recognize Manbok. Also she finds out that he’s soon to be married. After thinking hard, she goes to the wedding hall. Manbok’s family finds out about this and goes to find her at the wedding hall.
Musings: I had to watch this one! This is one of my little stars to watch in the future! As a side note, if you haven’t seen the K-Drama version of The Queen’s Classroom; you must!
I really liked this little special because the story focused on two things: adopted families and the desperate need that these child have to find their parents. Manbok really wanted to find her father. Kim Hyang Gi is so expressive in her acting that it is really hard to watch her scenes without shedding a tear or two.
Her family and her friends were the best! The love that they showed her was unconditional and no different than they showed their own. The kindness of her parents was self-evident as they became the care-taker to Mark (a foreign residence) and his son as they looked for his runaway wife (a pretty sad story). Manbok’s brother, Dae Bok was constantly trying to get into the Guiness Book of World records with one stunt or another; pretty funny, especially when he failed.
Even though it has its funny moments and definitely the teary ones, just let them flow; you won’t be able to avoid it because of the wonderful acting of this little girl. Enjoy!
