Synopsis: Joon Soo (Jang Keun-Suk) , a smart-aleck but popular high school student with two passions in life: girls and fighting. He has two friends, Jun Sung (Choi Jae-Hwan) and Ki-Suk (Ko Kyu-Pil ) who are the typical high school friends. Kim Byeul (Song Ha-Yoon) is a very smart girl from a VERY large family; so large that instead of names, they have numbers! She is so smart that she hates going to school.
Well, that’s until she sees Joon Soo going to school. It’s love at first sight, and the next day, to the surprise of her parents, she insists on going back to school.
One day, Joon Soo goes to the grocery store. While shopping and on the cell phone, he turns around and to his surprise, finds a baby in his food carriage. At first, he thinks it’s not his carriage but soon realizes it is.
Thinking that the parents made a mistake, he takes the paper to customer service. The clerks read the note attached, and they all soon realize that Joon Soo has been identified as the father. Not only does Joon Soo become an instant father, but at the same time his parents also run away from home, leaving him very little money.
What ensues is a funny search for the Mommy, his Mom and Dad, a job as well as watching a totally unprepared teenager take care of a truly adorable baby!!
Musings: I don’t want to give away a lot about this movie because I really want you to watch it. I watched this movie with Jang Keun-Suk before knowing who he was and about his popularity. Song Ha-Yoon as Kim Byeul was so funny in her pursuit of Joon Soo. When she introduces Joon Soo as her future husband, the looks on her parents face as well as Joon Soo when he hears it is priceless. As far as I know, this is Jang Keun-Suk’s only real comedy. Sure he may have done some semi-comedic movies or dramas, but I’ve never seen them. While I tend to shy away from High School dramas and movies, even us old fogies will have fun watching Baby and I.
This movie is reminiscent of the US movie series, Look Who’s Talking, starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. Yes, the baby talks! And it’s hysterical! If you have not seen this, and being an adult myself, this was not only funny but there was definitely a message there. And let’s not forget, an absolutely gorgeous baby boy name Woo Ram!
Ok, I’ll stop posting his pictures now (Heehee)!!
*Warning*-Again, this is about single parents but I definitely think there is a lesson here.
