tvN is making quite a name for itself by bringing to the small screen some innovative stories, and its newest lineup, Mi Saeng, is no different. Shall we take a closer look at this new show?
Title: Mi Saeng (Korean for “Incomplete Life”)
Cast: Im Si Wan, Lee Sung Min, Kang So Ra, Kang Ha Neul, Kim Dae Myung, Byun Yo Han
Showtimes: Starts October 17, 2014, Fridays and Saturdays
Premise: The series chronicles the life of a young ba duk (a Korean board game similar to chess/checkers) player who enters the corporate world with very little to justify his presence there other than the fact that he has connections that helped him get the internship. His goal? To find a road that will help him navigate through life…and to recognize that dead-ends are not roads. In the process, he finds fellow travelers with whom he can journey through life.
Musings: The story should be an interesting one that takes us into the corporate world through the eyes of a young employee, who struggles to find his place in the world that was not of his first choice. Feeling wholly inadequate and lost, protagonist (Si Wan) reflects the coming-of-age story of a young man adjusting to a “second” career choice, a situation with which many can empathize.
The show boasts an impressive all-star cast, and its somewhat melancholy yet compelling 5-minute highlight trailer (below) demands that this little twinkie tune in on October 17th for the first episode broadcast. If my suspicions are correct, this new addition to our Fall 2014 lineup promises a movie-like realism into the corporate world. Hmm…hopefully, that last sentence made sense to you all. 😉
