Starring: Kang Dong Won (The Taoist Wizard), Kim Jung Hwa, Han Hye Jin, Lee Byung Wook
Synopsis: The story revolves around Kim Da Hyun (Kim Jung Hwa), a school teacher who attracts the interest of a retired tycoon. He meets her on the subway and immediately realizes with the sharp acumen that made him a successful business that Da Hyun is the perfect girl for his grandson, Lee Jae In (Kang Dong Won). Unfortunately, Jae In has no intentions of marrying or pleasing his grandfather. However, when he is trapped into a preposterous situation by his grandfather, Jae In goes on the attack and assumes the worst of Da Hyun–she’s somehow bewitched his grandfather–thus starting the beginning of an unpredictable relationship, which ironically enough spawns other relationships.
Musings: I saw this series soon after it came out and absolutely LOVED it! It took me a while to finally track down a DVD box set copy of the series, but once I found it, I snatched it up without much thought for the price. Thank goodness, the price was reasonable–under $20.
Anyhow, if you love family dramas with romance and comedy, this series is definitely one you want to check out. Although all the actors have been known to display some very serious acting chops, they tend towards the light and silly in this series. Incidentally, this is the series that really launched Kang Dong Won and Kim Jung Hwa, at least in my opinion.
I enjoyed the various relationships the series highlights–grandfather-grandson, brother-sister, father-daughter, mother-daughter, cousin-cousin, friend/sister, etc.–and although the romance figures heavily in the series, the other relationships are what really made me watch this series in literally one sitting. I couldn’t help myself really…one episode sort of merged into the next one, and before I knew it, it was already morning and I had to get ready for work. LOL. Yeah, that day was absolutely a blur. LOL. I’d like to think that I’m a lot wiser now with my time management…heh….
Overall, this is one of my highly prized series that I hold near and dear to my heart. I hope those of you who decide to watch it love it as much as, if not more than, I did!
Note: Sorry about this week’s lack of posts. I’ve been having Internet problems, residual swollen finger issues, and the craziness that usually accompanies the start of a new semester. I’m hoping to post more as my finger feels better. Thank you for all your get-well wishes regarding my little “digit.” They were much appreciated! 🙂
