Glorious Day: Episode 39 Written Preview and English Translation

Glorious Day

Now that everyone knows about Grandmother’s illness, it should be heartwarming to see the family rally behind her. Boxes of tissue ready, everyone?

Addendum on Sept. 5: I forgot to mention that due to the Chuseok holiday, there will be no broadcast on Saturday. Episode 39 will air on Sunday.
Source: SBS (here).

English Translation: By Snoopy’s Twinkie

“Through Shin Ae and Min Shik, the rest of the family learn of Soon Ok’s illness. However, the family members don’t let on to Soon Ok that they know and instead prepare for Thanksgiving together. Meanwhile, learning that Shin Ae has borrowed money, Da Jung asks Jae Woo for 10,000,000 won as her spending money…”

Musings:

First, let me clarify for those of you who read Korean that the written preview has “Soon Ok” instead of “Shin Ae” as having borrowed money. However, since we know it’s Shin Ae who borrowed the money, I made the necessary correction, assuming that the writer simply switched the names by mistake.

In any case, happy early Thanksgiving (aka Chuseok)! Here’s hoping that Da Jung doesn’t act as an enabler in her efforts to get Shin Ae to like her.

Oh, and as for the preview to Episode 40, SBS has decided to upload that once Episode 39 has aired…at least that’s what the page for Episode 40 preview says. Ah well…*shrugs*…I guess we wait then. 🙁

  1. Thanks for the translation, ST!

(I’m online at the moment, which is why you’re getting a string of posts from me!)

I teach my kids never to use this word to describe themselves or other people, but I am gong to use it here – what Da-jung is doing is plain stupid. What does she think she’s doing? Or, rather, what on earth is the writer doing? Jae-woo has already given his savings to his father, right in front of both families (during the proposal), and she’s going to ask him for that much, to help his mother, who hates her? Good golly.

I still think the drama is well-paced and is treating most of the storylines well, especially with Grandma and Grandpa, but the story featuring In-woo and his bimbo fiance and the forced engagement/ marriage, plus Shin-ae and her childish behaviour, is really getting on my nerves.

    Gah!!!!!!! Mutter, mutter, mutter.

Anyway, happy Chu-seok to you and to all who celebrate! We call it the Lantern Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Mooncake Festival here (takes place next Monday), and the kids are looking forward to going around the neighbourhood with their lanterns. Shudder – Julia has a ‘Frozen’-themed paper lantern, and Hannah has a ‘Minion’ lantern. Oh, the traditionalists would turn in their graves 😎
