First Impressions: Cinderella and Four Knights (2016)

C4K 1

As a way to console myself from W‘s Episode 8 preemption–mean, MBC, just plain mean!–I took a peek this morning at tvN‘s latest series, Cinderella and Four Knights, starring Park So Dam (as Eun Ha Won), Ahn Jae Hyun (as Kang Hyun Min), Jung Il Woo (as Kang Ji Woon), and Lee Jung Shin (Kang Seo Woo). My thoughts…?

Musings:

Please keep in mind that this is an initial and very tentative first impression and that my views on this series may change quite drastically by the time I watch episode 2, but I wasn’t overly impressed…at least not yet.

Why, you ask?

I understand that the story is a spin on the classic “Cinderella” story, but when the recycled Kdrama cliches–poor but hardworking girl meets rich chaebols is just one of many–serve as the basis for the story, I found myself searching for a reason to return for episode 2.

Perhaps this assessment is a bit harsh. Perhaps…

I’ll have to see whether my initial view of this series is accurate when episode 2 airs tomorrow. In the meanwhile, if you’re interested in taking a look at the series yourself and making your own decision, you can find English-subbed videos here.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to return to give this series a “thumbs up” for approval because I really want to like this show.

  1. Hmm. I am hoping it has more substance than just the poor girl/ rich guy angle. Then again, I am still a sucker for the story so I will probably like it either way. I am too easy on my shows. LoL.

    1. Niema!!! *hugs*
I hope so, too! I know that the show is supposed to revolve around the personal development and growth of all of the characters, but seriously, my brain wouldn’t stop trying to convince me to save my time with episode 2… :'(

I like Jung Il-woo and Park So-dam in general. However, not convinced yet that I want to jump on this bandwagon. . .
