Last year, I held our first ever essay contest, focusing on the March 1, 1919 Proclamation and was pleasantly surprised to find a young Twinkle–Afrida–who wrote a passionate essay on the topic (here). This year, I’m hoping to hold our second annual essay contest in commemoration of the March 1, 1919 Proclamation again (read about it here).
Here are the rules:
1. Prompt: Please write an essay (200-400 words) in which you discuss the importance of the March 1, 1919 Proclamation to Korea’s history and how this document might be significant to us (Kdrama lovers) in the 21st century.
2. Anyone may enter.
3. Entries must be typed on a Word document and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. Deadline for submission is midnight (California time/PST) on February 28, 2015.
The winner(s) will be awarded a medal, a small cash prize, and an appropriate Korean historical item. In addition, the winning essay(s) will be published here on the Musings website for the rest of the community to read and be inspired.
I hope that many of you will consider entering our second essay contest! Happy writing, Twinkles! 🙂
