This is our fourth and final installment of this year’s “Walk down Memory Lane” as we take one month out of the year to look back on a past adventure and reminisce about all the fun we’ve had. *sniffles* Among all the memories I have of this series, the most prominent one is of how this series was instrumental in bringing me closer to some awesome twinkles. In particular, I can think of one incident…Did you know that my appreciation of a fellow blogger was immortalized in my mind because of this show? We continue our little “Walk down Memory Lane” this week with Episode 105 of High Kick 3. Somehow, with Halloween just around the corner (next Friday), this episode seems quite appropriate, don’t you think? 😉
Let’s take a look at the recap from March 6, 2012…verbatim. Continue reading Walk down Memory Lane: High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs (Week 25 – Episode 105 Link and Recap)
Today’s “Walk down Memory Lane” features Episode 98, which resonates with me as I am quite attached to my “older” cell phones and try to use them for as long as I am able. Needless to say, I have yet to switch over to a data plan/smart phone. 🙂
In addition, this episode epitomizes what I love about the third installment of the High Kick series: It’s a smooth blend of the comedic and the dramatic, often eliciting laughter and tears from its viewers within the same episode…even within the same scene!
Let’s take a look at the recap from February 18, 2012…verbatim. 🙂 Continue reading Walk down Memory Lane: High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs (Week 22 – Episode 98 Link and Recap)
Today’s post continues our 4th birthday celebration with the return of the annual “Walk down Memory Lane” corner. As you can see from the cover picture, this year’s featured series is the third installment of the High Kick franchise. Personally, I adored this series because it was a combination of comedic hilarity and dramatic poignancy. For a daily–probably one of the few I’ve actually seen–this series ranks right up there in the top 5.
Without further ado, I present to you my humble little recap written back in January 5, 2012, of Episode 69 (Week 16, broadcast on January 3, 2012). Enjoy the “walk down memory lane,” Twinkles! Continue reading Walk down Memory Lane: High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs – Episode 69
The very last broadcast of High Kick 3 as a series concludes with the re-broadcast of a recent episode in which Seung Yoon tries his hand at scriptwriting, crafting a ridiculously convoluted “drama” in which Ha Sun develops feelings for her husband’s older brother. When he unexpectedly “dies” from a boomerang–yeah, I did say the episode was ridiculous–and needs a brain transplant, Yoo Sun offers hers since she’s already dying of a terminal illness. Ironically, the transplant is a success, but Kye Sang is no more as Yoo Sun’s brain and personality now lives in Kye Sang’s body. Eewww…
Today’s High Kick 3 Best #2 is the episode in which Jin Hee receives the photo of Kye Sang, finds him annoying, and Ha Sun feels inferior in her teaching when compared to the new teacher who has a much more dynamic teaching style. This is the episode in which she dressed up as the mad cow. 🙂
Oh my…In case you haven’t heard, MBC will be airing a week’s worth of High Kick 3 Specials. So for those of you who were lamenting the end of our beloved series, here’s an additional week of “specials” to temper the withdrawal from High Kick land. LOL
For those of you who were interested in what Kye Sang actually wrote on his postcard to Ji Won, wait no longer. Jules has kindly sent me a high-resolution picture of the postcard for me to see since my video’s resolutions are quite low. Thank you, Jules! This is what I call devotion to a show! 😉
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Although there were no interviews with the actors this time around, this short “Special” to close out the 123-episode series was a concise yet sweet touch, one last “hurrah” before retiring this much beloved series to our memories and occasional re-watches.
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Our finale…the very last episode of this tale of the “Short Legs”…Unlike the ending of season 2, this final episode of High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs concludes gracefully, recounting a beautiful story that graciously takes the viewers along for the ride…to experience–enjoy, mature, lament–with the characters all of life in its varying shades of grays and bright colors.
Pre-Recap Thoughts: If Episode 121 was about new beginnings–Jin Hee/Lee Juck and Soo Jung/Seung Yoon pairings–Episode 122 revolves around goodbyes as two of our main characters–Ha Sun and Kye Sang–say their respective farewells. In much the same way that Episode 121 didn’t explicitly show the characters becoming couples but instead only alluded to them for the audience’s benefit, Episode 122 reveals more to the audience than to its characters.
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Whew~What a difference a relatively “early” night makes. Thank you for your well wishes; I am feeling better…well enough to recap yesterday’s episode for you all. 🙂
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Aw…this episode made me laugh (the Ahn siblings’ antics) but also silently whimper (the final chapter of Jin Hee and Kye Sang’s “relationship”). Writers! Thou art too cruel for words! Yes, you prepared me for the separation, but the reality of it is…just…too…saaaaaaad. 🙁
*sigh* On this dramatic note, I give you my humble little recap of episode 120….
Pre-Recap Thoughts: This episode dealt with the idea of perception and how events and their interpretations can change based on a particular point of view. The two stories revolve around Ha Sun and Seung Yoon as they deal with the Ji Won – Kye Sang pair, Ha Sun with Ji Won’s decision to go to Rwanda and Seung Yoon with Kye Sang’s “infinite” wisdom. LOL
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Things are starting to finally look up for our two little fighters, Nae Sang and Jin Hee. And as they struggle in this episode to regain their footing in life, they realize that they are blessed with a family that cares and supports them, regardless of the circumstances.
Pre-Recap Thoughts: The tying up of loose ends is starting with a vengeance now. Just when I had forgotten Young Wook, he shows up to bring complete closure to his and Ha Sun’s story. Then there’s Seung Yoon and Soo Jung…
Pre-Recap Thoughts: Last night’s episode 115 recap took me much longer than I expected, and I ended up going to bed past 2AM! Yikes! So…I’m really going to have to try this “mini-recap” format if I want to be able to keep recapping each episode until the end.
Pre-Recap Thoughts: The race to survive and thrive is the theme of today’s episode. We see this desperate fight to live and be an active part of the adult society in the lives of Nae Sang, Jin Hee, and Jong Seok. These three broke my heart today but also gave me hope, smiles, and a bittersweet ache of sympathy as they struggle to overcome their fears of failure–fears that threaten to engulf them and leave them mere shadows of their former selves–and instead figuratively claw their way out of their almost crippling ditch of self-doubt and self-pity.
