Bulletin Board: October 14 – October 20

Here is this week’s bulletin board for any announcements, requests, questions, etc. that you just want to post, especially as some of you may want to gush about dramas that our blog does not cover.

In addition to my usual tentative schedule of blog posts, I wanted to ask you a few questions, so please keep reading and let me know what you think:

1. As Arang approaches its last two episodes this week, I’m debating what series to pick up next. I’ve heard some great things about My Daughter Seo Young, which premiered September 15, 2012, and was wondering if anyone is interested in reading those recaps/nutshells. I haven’t seen it yet, but according to ratings, the series is now at 30% viewership. Impressive! My only concern is that it’s a loooooong weekend drama, very much like A Thousand Kisses. However, if there’s enough interest, I certainly wouldn’t mind devoting the next few months–OK, probably the next half a year–to the endeavor. Thoughts or suggestions?

2. Also, for those of you currently watching The Thousandth Man, Jules has heard your pleas and is laboring over the next installment of that series. 🙂

3. My Faith review post probably won’t get written and posted until after Thanksgiving in the U.S., towards the end of November or early December, when I marathon the series.

4. Below is the tentative schedule of blog posts you can expect this week: (subject to change, of course, if life gets crazy)

Monday: Movie Monday

Tuesday: Standby 24

Wednesday: Arang and the Magistrate Ep. 19 and possible Ep. 20 preview

Thursday: Arang and the Magistrate Ep. 20/final thoughts and The Thursday 3

Friday: Standby Ep. 25

Saturday: Surprise post

Sunday: Bulletin Board

Have a wonderful Sunday and a fabulous week!

  1. I’m not watching any of the above-mentioned dramas, but for longer series like My Daughter Sooyoung, instead of doing episodic recaps, you can do some kind of weekly wrap up. It’ll be easier for you, and since week-end and longer dramas tend to be less packed in events per episodes and are usually slower paced, a recap per story arc could be interesting too. Or maybe for you first post instead of catching up from ep 1, you can do a general recap/review of what has happened until the present point, and continue with that. These are just suggestions to ease your schedule, of course 🙂

On a side note, I was wondering if there was any update on your final review of King 2 Hearts? I don’t think that any of us need the recap/screenshots of the last 2 episodes by this point, but I’m very curious to know about you final thoughts on that drama. I’m in no way pressuring you to do it, so please don’t feel burdened!

  2. Hi, ST, I agree with Mawiie – perhaps just a weekly wrap-up for longer kdramas? If you’d really like to watch and comment on the longer ones, that is. I am quite sure this community is perfectly happy with whatever you (and Jules) choose to watch and recap on.

btw did you get my email regarding the roll-call special? Just checking, cos my email add sometimes gets treated as spam mail.

    Have a good week!

    1. Thanks for the input! Yes, I got your email and sent a reply…I think. LOL. I am truly embracing the notion of the absent-minded professor these days. :p
In any case, I have you down. 🙂

  3. Hm, I’m not watching My Daughter Seo-young (it looks like a rather lengthy family show?), but am interested in:

Can We Get Married, which is Jung So-min’s latest drama (and she’s paired with Sung Joon, of SUFBB! so excited!) and starts on… October 29th, I think. As it’s a cable show, I’m not sure it’ll be subbed, though.

Jeon Woo-chi, because of Cha Tae-hyun (and okay, the story seems good, too). I think Baek Jin-hee is in it, too. 🙂 It starts mid to late November.

I Miss You, with Yoon Eun-hye (I love her) and Park Yoochun. It’s a melo, but it looks so pretty and… I can’t have to watch, as YEH is in it. I think it starts early November (it follows Arang, but there’ll be specials between the end of Arang and the start of IMY).

There are probably more, but those are the shows that immediately come to mind (for me, at least).

(and I may not be watching MDSY, but if you recap/nutshell it, I’ll read. :))

    1. Oooo, yes, I’m looking out for ‘Can We Get Married’ too, just because of Sung Joon! I have no idea what the drama is about though. Hee hee.

      1. Hee! It’s about the married life of four couples (well, three couples and one couple who’re planning to get married – Jung So-min and Sung Joon). One of those couples is comprised of So-min’s sister and her playa husband… and then there’s something about So-min and her sister’s social climbing mother, who’s trying to marry off her two daughters…

Here’s a link to one of the teasers, if you want to see it: warning, thar be kissing ahead.

  4. Ohhh ST, did were we supposed to received a reply for the roll-call emails? I did write back but i haven’t received a reply afterward…

    1. Yeah, it didn’t happen this week. 🙁 I shall have one next week, though. For now, I’m just hoping to have Arang up today. 🙂 Good luck on your PSAT!

      1. Lol its okay i was just wondering what happened. And thank you! The math portion was so easy but the english -_-;; …. I think i did alright. So many vocab words!

  5. Hi, everyone!
Just wanted to let you know that I wasn’t able to recap this morning and will recap once I’m back from work, which is around 10PM Pacific Standard Time. 🙁 What a way to prolong the anticipation, huh? LOL

  6. Hi ST

First of all, let me congrats you on the 2nd anniversary… sorry that i am very very late… I still havent backtrack all the post that i missed.. but going to do that… soon ..

Am glad that you did Arang. Now that it ended, i am going to marathon it at one go. My husband suddenly developed an interest in sageuk that i have to really catered his need… well, war and war and war… it is not my cup of tea, so… i tend to be away most of the time as he conquered my comp.

My Daughter Sooyoung is going to be air in my country, so with the sub and all, i think that is enough for me. At the moment i am watching my daughter, flower… such a long long one … 131 ep…but i read all the recap and i think the happy ending make me want to watch… hahahhaah

If it is ok to request, i would love if I Miss You is included in your list…… LOL…. ohhh… you are so right….PYC is my weakness…. and YEH is adorable in Goong and CP. If i am not mistaken, they were rumoured to be in Lie To Me but PYC choose Miss Ripleys… Now that they are casted together, i think fate is playing cupid for this drama..

And before i forget… thousand thanks for the down memory lane: SSKS… the drama that brought me to you 🙂

  7. Currently watching whenever I can: Vampire Prosecutor, Prosectuor Princess

Currently waiting to watch weekly: Innocent Man, Ohlala Couple, Faith

Movie I want to watch but dont know how newly realeased Korean movies can be posted online with subs without the quality sucking and it being illegal and all: A Werewolf Boy with Song Joong Ki <3333 X 9000

How many years must I wait, can anyone tell me? TT^TT boo hoo

Drama ending that I loved: ARANG AND THE MAGISTRATE

    So frickin cute.

I will express more when Twinkie posts her recaps and final thoughts ^^

Drama that is currently depressing me: The Innocent Man

Kang Maru will die. I swear those kdrama writers will do it just to stab me in the heart. It would be such a cliche ending….or would it? o.o

Nahhh someone always has to die in melodramas. Always.

So that concludes Wol's Corner of Jumbled Thoughts at the end of her Kdrama Week 😀

    1. Hi Wol!

The release date for Werewolf Boy is October 31st, so I’d say you have quite a wait ahead of you. *g*

Watched the end of Arang last night (raw, because I couldn’t wait) and OMGsocute!

Nice Guy is one drama I’m kind of in love with at the moment, though I think everyone will either be dead or in a psych ward at the end of it; this drama chews up happy endings and spits them out, terrified and alone and curled up into a little ball of pain and despair. But… I’m watching it because I’m so in love with Eun-ki/Maru (shipping will be the death of me…). 🙂

      1. Ughh I know, I’m dreading the ending. 🙁

Btw – so Joon Ha likes Eungi? Wouldn’t it be funny if he didn’t lie to Eungi about “liking men” and he actually had a thing for Maru? xD that’s why he’s so jealous!! Oh what a twist thtd be. Reminds me of K.Will’s “Please Don’t” mv (if you haven’t seen it, go watch now!!) it’s so beautiful.

I am also a Eungi/Maru shipper. What’s their couple name? Mungi? Margi? Euru? Marungi? Lol such silly ones xD
