The Luni employees walk down the hall to Yoo Kyung’s hospital room, commenting on how Yoo Kyung doesn’t have family in Korea, so she must be lonely.
Inside the hosptial room, Yoo Kyung thanks Woo Bin and tells him that she would have been lonely had Woo Bin not stayed with her. As she hugs Woo Bin by the waist, the Luni employees walk into the hospital room and find Woo Bin and Yoo Kyung in that compromising situation. Woo Bin disengages himself from Yoo Kyung, and Yoo Kyung introduces Woo Bin to her staff, trying to insinuate that Woo Bin and she have a special relationship. However, before she can even start, Woo Bin acknowledges having met everyone previously when he went to the design department, much to Yoo Kyung’s surprise, and then takes his leave but not before telling Joo Young that he’ll meet and talk with her later. Foiled in her scheme, Yoo Kyung attacks Joo Young and tells her that Joo Young has no manners. If Joo Young wants to leave now, she can go now. Joo Young declines and stays in the room a while. One of the staff comments that Woo Bin must be a friend to Yoo Kyung and a “special” person to Joo Young, but Yoo Kyung suggests in mock joke to lump them in a love triangle. Soon after, Woo Bin sends Joo Young a text, telling her that he’ll be waiting for her in the car. Yoo Kyung glares in spite and envy as Joo Young reads the message.
A while later, Joo Young leaves the hospital and gets into Woo Bin’s car. He tells her that he’ll explain everything once they’re in a quiet location.
Standing by the Han River banks, Woo Bin tries to explain the situation to Joo Young: (love how WB is so straight forward with her!)
WB: Why? Why aren’t you getting mad? Aren’t you supposed to get mad? Get mad, and I’ll explain the situation.
JY: I was so surprised…to see you in Yoo Kyung’s hospital room.
WB: I was holding her. Why aren’t you mentioning that? Then, I’m going to explain things now. You know better than anyone else how I feel about Yoo Kyung. Do you think that I actually held her?
JY: What I saw was the two of you in an embrace.
He then explains what happened and how she came upon them in that position.
WB: Why aren’t you reacting one way or another? Do you believe me or not?
JY: Because I know Yoo Kyung’ s personality, I don’t discount that this could have happened. You can’t possibly imagine how shocked I was.
WB: I can. That’s why I’m trying so hard to explain the situation to you.
Joo Young isn’t completely convinced and Woo Bin sighs in frustration as to how to convince her.
Woo Jin’s mother drops Joo Mi off at Joo Mi’s house and tells her not to forget about the make-up appointment. As she drives away, the aunt grandmother catches a glimpse of Woo Jin’s mother and chases after the car in an attempt to confirm whether it’s really Joo Young’s biological mother or not.
Unsucessful in her attempt (thank goodness!), the aunt grandmother stumbles into the house in her hurry and reports her news to the grandmother, who tells her to stop spouting nonsense. The aunt grandmother resolves to visit the grocery store every day in order to find the woman; she thinks it will be a wonderful thing to introduce the girls, especially Joo Mi as she’s about to marry, to their mother. When the grandmother forcefully tells her to stop her foolishness unless she wants to be kicked out of the house, the aunt grandmother comments that the grandmother is cruel. It’s been years since the mother made her mistake, plenty of time to forget and forgive. The grandmother reiterates her warning and takes the dinner out to the living room.
At Woo Jin’s house, the family gather around to dinner and discuss the wedding plans. As the mother reports what she and Joo Mi did that day, Soo Ah pouts and complains that her mother seems like an entirely different person. She never used to go out, but these days, she’s going out every day. When the father explains that it’s because Joo Mi doesn’t have a mother, Soo Ah states petulantly that her mother is more Joo Mi’s mother now. Woo Jin then tells the family that he’s going to look at a location tomorrow for the wedding ceremony.
Later that night, as Woo Jin showers (heh heh, I guess Ryu Jin gets a gratuitous shower scene, too. LOL), he recalls a comment from one of his employees who said that Woo Jin needs to work on getting in better shape, especially since he’s marrying a young bride. Woo Jin comes out of the shower and flexes his biceps (LOL). Displeased with what he sees in the mirror, he sneaks downstairs and does a few repetitions on his father’s workout machine. However, he is interrupted in his workout by his father, who tells him to take things slowly and only do 30 minutes the first day. Embarrassed, Woo Jin makes an excuse and goes upstairs, massaging his deltoids as he climbs the stairs. (LOL. This man cracks me up! Who knew that he would be such a romantic…He’s trying to do anything to please his Joo Mi! So adorable!)
The next morning, Hye Bin comes into Woo Bin’s room and asks him why he lied to her before about being rejected. Woo Bin tells her that he had told her the truth but that he clung to Joo Young until she changed her mind. He then tells Hye Bin to mind her own business. She asks in disbelief if he plans on marrying Joo Young, a woman who is divorced and with a small child. She wonders what their mother will say and do once she finds out. Woo Bin tells her to stay out of his business; he’ll tell their mother. At this Hye Bin is shocked that Woo Bin is serious about Joo Young. She comments that someone has to knock some sense into him since he’s lost his senses. The mother comes in and asks if they’re fignting this early in the morning. Hye Bin storms out of the room, warning her mother not to always take Woo Bin’s side or she’ll be betrayed/greatly disappointed by her son one of these days. The mother asks if he’s planning on doing something that will hurt her nose (disappoint/betray her) and has him promise her that he will not do anything like that. Woo Bin quietly answers that he won’t.
Joo Young receives a phone call while at work from Hye Bin to meet her.
Once Joo Young joins her at the cafe, Hye Bin threatens Joo Young with her mother–how scary she can be–and tells Joo Young to end things with Woo Bin. Joo Young gathers her courage and begins to tell Hye Bin that accepting Woo Bin was not an easy decision to make. As Joo Young explains how much she struggled and debated, Hye Bin throws a cold glass of water at Joo Young’s face, telling her that this is just a sampling of what her mother will do. No, she amends, her mother will do more than just throw water; she’ll probably grab Joo Young by the hair and create a scene. As one woman to another, Hye Bin advises Joo Young to end things before the mother finds out. Hye Bin leaves and Joo Young remains seated, processing the shock of the physical attack. Almost immediately, she receives a text message from Woo Bin saying that he’ll be 10 minutes late. Holding back the tears in her eyes, she takes a deep breath and regroups her resolve.
Whistling while driving, Woo Bin asks Joo Young if she’s miffed that he was 10 minutes late. Or did something happen at the office? Joo Young says nothing happened. Woo Bin comments that she finally opened her mouth, and Joo Young reassures him that nothing happened. He offers to sing her a lullaby so that she can get some sleep. She tells him that he doesn’t need to try to hard to cheer her up. Woo Bin tells her that whatever it is, she’ll feel much better after she eats some steak. There’s a great place he’s been wanting to take her. He then continues on with his cheerful whistling. (Cute!)
At the restaurant, Woo Bin tells Joo Young that he’s always wanted to come to this particular restaurant with her. The drive is good, and the food is good. At Joo Young’s continued expressionless reaction, Woo Bin wonders if his charm has worn off already. He states that he’s said this and that, and she’s given him nothing but emotionless reactions. He then plops his steak onto her plate and tells her to eat it. She finally cracks a smile and tells him to eat it. Placing the steak back onto his plate, she tells him that she’s not a pig.
As Woo Bin and Joo Young enjoy their dinner, his mother enters the restaurant with her group of friends and sits at a private dining room. As the others situate themselves around the table, Woo Bin’s mother excuses herself to go to the bathroom.
Washing her hands in the bathroom, Joo Young reaches for the paper towel just as Woo Bin’s mother reaches for a sheet. (ah, the coincidence!)
Woo Bin walks out of the restaurant, holding hands with Joo Young and both smiling broadly when a friend of Woo Bin’s mother arrives late to the restaurant and notices him. She calls after him, but he doesn’t hear and drives off into the night with Joo Young.
Joining the rest of the women’s group, the friend asks Woo Bin’s mother if she came with Woo Bin. At the mother’s surprise, the friend tells her that she just saw him with his girlfriend. The mother expresses disbelief and exclaims that Woo Bin doesn’t have a girlfriend. The other friends tell Woo Bin’s mother that Woo Bin may have a girl but just never bothered to tell her. They add that some men don’t bother introducing the girl to the family unless he plans to marry her. Perhaps they are just dating. The mother still has a difficult time believing that Woo Bin would keep something like that from her.
Driving Joo Young back home, Woo Bin asks if she wants to drive. At her surprise, he explains that because she’s so quiet, he’s getting sleepy. He asks her to sing for him to keep him awake. When she declines, saying that she can’t sing, he asks her to hold his hand instead then and clasps her hand with his.
Arriving back at her house, Joo Youg enters her bedroom and looks at Chan Ho’s sleeping form. Stroking his hair, she reflects back on her meeting with Hye Bin, who threw a cold glass of water at her face and advised her to break things off with Woo Bin before their mother gets involved because Woo Bin’s mother will do far worse than throw water. Joo Young shakes her head clear of the memory and gets ready for bed.
Woo Bin’s mother arrives home later that night and asks Woo Bin if he was at a restaurant. Surprised, he asks how she knew that. In turn, she asks if he went there with a girl and why he hasn’t introduced her to the family yet. Woo Bin tells her he’ll introduce the woman to them at a later time and wishes them good night before heading upstairs to his bedroom. The mother yells after his retreating back that she wants him to introduce the girl to them. The mother suspects that Hye Bin knows something and cajoles her into telling her EVERYTHING Hye Bin knows. Hye Bin only caves into her mother’s request after the mother promises to release Hye Bin’s credit cards. She tells her mother that the girl is Yoo Kyung. The mother is deflated by the news since she’s already seen Yoo Kyung. She wonders why Woo Bin’s dragging his feet with the introduction if his girlfriend is Yoo Kyung.
Upstairs, Woo Bin sits deep in thought at his desk, contemplating how to deal with his mother and the impending conflict.
The next day at his office, Tae Kyung receives a phone call requesting his presence in response to a report that Joon Hee’s filed against him. He races back home and asks Joon Hee if she filed a claim against him. (I can’t believe the woman is still living at Tae Kyung’s house even after she filed a police report that could send him to jail…or is it merely a ploy to get him to come around and marry her?) When she confirms this, he wails while Joon Hee tells Tae Kyung’s mother that she’ll do what she can to send Tae Kyung to jail since she has to find a way to survive. (Wow…what a woman! Don’t know what else to say about her warped thinking.)
Seated at a bridal dress boutique, Woo Jin lounges comfortably in a plush chair, sipping a cup of tea while he views Joo Mi trying on various wedding dresses. (I’ve always thought it odd that the grooms in Korea alway see the brides in their wedding dresses before the ceremony. Where’s the surprise in that for the groom?! In the US, it’s considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride in the wedding gown before the weeding.) Joo Mi comes out wearing her first dress, which I personally think is charming, but Woo Jin rejects it on the premise that it’s too low cut. He calls it “too undressed” (LOL). She pouts but agrees to try another one that’s less revealing. When she comes out with the second dress, a strapless which looks just as revealing as the first one in my opinion, he smiles in pleasure, asking her to turn around a bit. At the “plunging” back, he demands, “Does this make sense to you?” She then proceeds to try a third dress, opting for a mini-dress this time. (LOL.) At her “atrocious” choices, he offers to pick out the next dress, selecting the most conservative dress he can find. As Joo Mi takes the dress with resignation, Woo Jin straightens his suit and sits down in exhaustion (LOL. The man’s facial expressions are hilarious!). Joo Mi reappears in the charming dress, and he finally flashes an OK sign at her. (Personally, does anyone else think the back is just as deeply cut as the one he rejected?) Joo Mi expresses her desire to wear the mini-dress and tells Woo Jin that this dress doesn’t suit her personality. Woo Jin tells her that brides should be charming and modest.
Relocating to a coffee shop after the dress fitting, Woo Jin relents and tells Joo Mi to choose one: honeymoon location or wedding dress. Joo Mi asks if she can’t choose both. He tells her she can only choose one. She looks at him sadly and clarifies that if she chooses the mini-dress, then this will mean that they go to Jeju Island for their honeymoon. Woo Jin answers in the affirmative and then tells her that he won’t be able to drive her home because of an important meeting.
Like a fish out of water, Woo Jin finds his way into a singing center to learn how to sing better. When the instructor coyly asks him to sing any song to gauge Woo Jin’s level, Woo Jin defends himself by telling the instructor that he’s not that bad. He then proceeds to sing. (O-M-G! The look on Woo Jin’s face as he sings is priceless!!! He totally has me laughing out loud, so loud that I almost woke up Bentley from his nap on my lap. *chuckles*)
Joo Young meets Tae Kyung at a cafe and demands why he’s asked to see her when he didn’t even show up at the courthouse. Tae Kyung, exhibiting very little energy, tells her that he’s decided to finally let her go. It doesn’t look like she’ll return to him and fate is just not treating him well. He asks her one request, though. With face suddenly becoming animated, he tells her excitedly to just not meet “that guy.” He asks her to see reason; what could a man like Woo Bin see in a single mother like her? (Nice…that’s really going to endear you to her.) As she leaves, he continues to yell out warnings at her back.
Meanwhile, Joo Mi meets with her friend and apprises her of the situation: wedding dress of her choice or honeymoon of her choice. The friend exclaims that an old bachelor like Woo Jin should cater to the wishes of his young bride and let her choose both. Joo Mi agrees and quickly calls Woo Jin, who doesn’t answer his phone…why? Because the man’s taking singing lessons! LOL
At the music studio, Woo Jin echoes/sings after the instructor. (LOL seriously, his facial expressions are priceless!) Frustrated, the instructor bangs on the keys and tells Woo Jin that he’s not tone-deaf or lacking in rhythm but “emotion-deficient.” Puzzled, Woo Jin asks what that is. The instructor clarifies that happy songs need to be sung happily, sad songs sung sadly, etc. He asks Woo Jin to try again, and Woo Jin, opening his eyes widely, tries to the best of his ability. But it’s not good enough as the instructor pounds on the piano keys. (The whole situation is causing this little Twinkie to cackle with laughter. LOL.) The instructor shoves a metal bucket at Woo Jin and tells him to try singing with that on his head to hear his voice and emotion properly. At first, Woo Jin resists, thinking that the man is joking, but he then quickly dons on the bucket and sings…and I must admit that his singing does seem to improve a bit. LOL. Oh my, this scene alone with remain in my memory for quite some time. heh heh.
At Joo Young’s office, Yoo Kyung walks into the design room to a chorus of “good morning,” and she knowingly says that she’s still not used to hearing “good morning” in the middle of the afternoon. (Show off! *raspberries*) She then approaches Joo Young and comments that she heard that Joo Young got showered with water. Having said what she came to say, she walks out, warning Joo Young smugly to be careful of Hye Bin, who is different from Woo Bin. Joo Young’s friend, hearing this, gets upset.
Taking a coffee break with Joo Young, the friend asks her if she really got water thrown in her face and if she really has to meet Woo Bin. Joo Young explains that because of her disappointment with Tae Kyung, she never thought she’d fall in love again. Because she knew that her relationship with Woo Bin would be hard, she avoided Woo Bin and tried to shove him out, but he’s followed her into the metaphorical alley that she was hiding herself. So she’s decided to not push out this child-like man from her life. That’s as far as she’s decided for now.
Later that night, Joo Young tells the grandmothers that she’ll be meeting Tae Kyung at the courthouse tomorrow. Chan Ho walks into the house with Joo Mi and shows everyone the present he bought for his classmate. The family then discuss the wedding and talk turns to who will walk her down the aisle. Joo Young mentions that these days, some brides walk down by themselves or with their grooms. Joo Mi jokingly asks Chan Ho to practice walking down the aisle with her, and the rest of the family watch and laugh as the two practice the wedding march.
The next morning, Joo Young and Tae Kyung sedately walk out of the courthouse. The voiceover declares their marriage terminated by mutual consent of both parties. At the gate, Tae Kyung asks Joo Young to share a cup of tea with him. Once at the tea house, he apologizes to her and asks her not to hate him too much. From here on out, he hopes that she’ll live happily. Joo Young just looks at him in disgust as he wails a bit.
At around the same time, Woo Bin meets his father for a drink, and his father asks him if he’s meeting Yoo Kyung. Woo Bin denies that he’s meeting her and asks his father if he and the mother are expecting Woo Bin to marry a woman from a good family background and education. The father laughs and asks isn’t that natural. At this, Woo Bin asks if it isn’t more important that he loves her. The father agrees but also asserts that too wide a gap between couples can be difficult, too. Woo Bin sadly states that he was hoping his father would be different. The father, a bit concerned now, asks him if everything’s OK. Woo Bin’s behavior is causing him some concern. The father asks Woo Bin to simply introduce the woman to them, but Woo Bin confesses that although he would love to do just that, the woman isn’t ready for that step.
Tae Kyung returns home and tells Joon Hee that he’s officially divorced, so she can cancel the police report. He then goes into the room in exhaustion but quickly hovers near the wall when he notices his wedding photo with Joo Young gone. As he laments his loss, Joon Hee enters his room with a cake to celebrate his divorce and their restart together as a couple. Tae Kyung upturns the cake, causing it to fall to the floor, and yells at her that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. Barely holding her tears in, she reminds Tae Kyung that she’s placed ALL her eggs into the Tae Kyung basket, so he had better be prepared to live or die together with her! At her vehemence, Tae Kyung mutters that she is one scary woman.
